Coupon redemption not like Scripture Redemption

by Andy Wulff
on 24 July 2020
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith. - Galatians 3:13 –14 (ESV)

Legalese is always funny to me. I'm always wondering why and how it came to be. One that always makes me smile is the disclosure on a coupon. If you look at the top it usually says something like 'Actual Cash Value 1/10 Cent'. It doesn't matter if the redemption value is 5 cents or 500 dollars, it always says that. I guess in one sense it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

Redemption in scripture is different. It is both costly and valuable. In fact, redemption is something that not only what God does but who He is - a redeemer God.

This week Carson is going to open up God's word for us in our series - No One Like You - to consider this important aspect of God's nature. I want to encourage you to read through Galatians 3 to prepare your heart and minds to worship.
